What Does Love Feel Like...

What does love feel like? Love feels like an unknown weight pressing down on your entire body that can only be lifted by the smile or touch of the one you crave. Like your brain is in a constant battle between day dreaming and concentrating on what’s at hand. Love feels like an acknowledgement for the little things that even you don’t notice about yourself. It feels like an entire zoo taking over your body whenever they’re near. Love feels like being in a constant battle with anyone who says their name even remotely affectionate. Love feels like biting into a pizza roll right after it gets out of the microwave- too hot but too good to be patient with. It feels like that weightless moment on a roller-coaster right before the wheels seem to touch the tracks once more. Love feels like the first sip of a Slurpee after a long summer’s day in Las Vegas- refreshing, yet too much can freeze your brain. Love feels like seeing that your favorite jeans are on ...

Alessia Cara has the anthem for us all

“She just wants to be beautiful She goes unnoticed, she knows no limits She craves attention, she praises an image She prays to be sculpted by the sculptor” -Scars To Your Beautiful, Alessia Cara I’ve found it. The song that’s finally been sung that speaks every word that has been embedded into my head. The life stories and lack of self-worth inside of them, that are constantly circling inside of my head. Alessia Cara has poured out every word that we’ve all needed to hear for years now. I’ve never been on to turn to self harm for my battles with my self image but, I did turn to a ‘I don’t care’ attitude. Its followed me for years in each, school, friends, and relationships. After years of being disregarded for how I looked and acted, I stopped believing in love and being happy with someone. I longed to long in the mirror and see someone that others envied and others loved. I didn’t know how to just be me, I wasn’t happy. I didn’t have the 6 pack, killer thigh ga...

Change is upon us

Right now, I’m sitting in my old basketball sweats, sporting two fashionable braids, bumping Haliee Steinbecks latest hit, ‘I love Myself’, while watching the highlights of this year’s Emmy awards. Sounds like the perfect relaxing Sunday evening right? Wrong. While even though I’m correctly in the best setting, I’m still consumed by the thoughts of the many things that need to be accomplished this week. Work is never done and it’s never over but progress can be made and goals can be achieved. The wonderful and talented, Viola Davis, has just be named the first Black Woman to win an Emmy Award for Leading Actress in a Drama series, for her role in the hit television show, How To Get Away with Murder. If you may or may not know, the ‘television’ business isn’t made generally for a woman of color. Leading roles aren’t generally made for us. We’re more of the ‘extras’, or the ‘supporting actresses’, always sidelined and never first. Mrs. Davis succeed with making that more known in ...

10 Best Movies Of Our Generation

Image
Top 5 movies that taught us lessons we couldn't learn anywhere else.      5.     Monster's Inc. Admit it the movie made you cry at least once. I mean 'bubby' melted your heart. It also taught you that you can never judge a book by it's cover or based on the rumors you hear. 4.  Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone Ring the start of the magic era! I don't know about you guys but this movie helped develop my fear of spiders. BIG TIME! It probably even helped in my fear of dark and spooky places. But, hey what can I say a friend like Hagrid would save me right? Yeah, no this movie just taught me about what would happen if your parents were famous and you were stuck to live with jealous imbeciles. 3. Finding Nemo Yes, I speak whale, and of course love is worth traveling across an ocean for .      2.  Pirates of the Caribbean: ...

A letter to my roommate.

Dear Roommate,           I apologize in advance for my crazy personality. It's just that I've spent the past 10 years of my life watching movies based on college friendships therefore, we have to be the best of friends. I'm probably already thinking about our weddings and how you'll be one of my bride's maids, if not my maid of honor. I'm also already picturing what we'll be like in bars and clubs once we finally get to that age. I have high expectations and I wont settle for another disappointment as to high school was. I mean it was nothing like high school musical. Total. Waste. Of. Time.            Since we will be sharing a small-confined space together for the next 9 months or so, we'll need to get along. If you're the type of person who likes to stay to themselves, get over it. It's not happening anymore, I'm going wherever you go. We'r...

14 more days till college!

14 more days to clear out my room and finish packing for my dorm. 14 more days till I leave my family for longer than 5 days. 14 days till I fill out applications and can no longer say that my mothers address is the same as mine to keep from writing more. 14 more days till I don't constantly hear the battle cries of my brother over video games. 14 more days till I become a Rebel, no longer a Wolf. 14 days till I question my insanity on all the crazy things ill try.  14 more days till I become my own personal manager. My mom wont be there to constantly remind me of how cool I am. 14 more days till I realize that I don't have any money for Chipotle, since I need to buy a book for class. 14 days till I become accustomed to the life  of an adult.  14 more days till I have to buy my own food. I guess it's a good thing I know how to cook.   The time is near for a few of us, if it hasn't already started. High...

Summer DIY for when boredom strikes...

Image
This summer, for the majority of you, has probably consisted of Netflix, The Fridge, and the oh-so-comfy Bed or Couch. If you sleep on the couch don't be ashamed, sometimes it's WAY more comfortable than a bed ;) But since I know we all struggle form a variety of different issues regarding ourselves and the nettle against boredom, I thought I would showcase a neat little project that I discovered and then re-created myself. I call it........ Letters and Envelopes. I know, it's pretty darn amazing, I came up with it myself guys. Hehe :) ANYWHO! I did this project because I wanted to have a way to remind myself of things whenever I felt a certain way or encountered a certain situation. Going into college and living on my own for once might be hard but, I want to make sure that I don't lose myself in the process.   This is what they will look like once you're done! :) Supplies: ...

10 Reasons why Las Vegas is the worst city to live in as a teen

Image
If you live in Las Vegas, or used to, you  understand my pain. You understand the boredom and frustration. #1. You can't do anything What you see on t.v doesn't apply to you. There is no 'night life' for you. The most exciting thing you'll ever do is maybe attend a bonfire, go cliff jumping, off-roading, go bowling, play fugitives or hang in the mall. #2. The club scene doesn't apply to you. You're not 21. Clubs won't let you in. you are stuck watching from a distance like the lost puppy you are. The bouncers don't like you. The only 'club' you'll get close to is Stoney's on a Friday night when they let you partake in the line dancing. #3. The strip is not your home. You'll live in the actual 'living' part of Las Vegas. The strip will only be used to people watch because that becomes your new favorite hobby . #4. The heat. It's beyo...

5 Guys you'll crush on in highschool

Image
As young ladies, trying to find our way through high school and wanting to experience that high school musical love, we're bound to develop a 'crush' of sorts. Especially on the guy in our 3rd period biology class who just so happens to look like Zac Efron. But we'll all fall for the same type eventually. 1. Mr. Smooth Talker He's the one who's voice is just the perfect level of raspy and huskiness at the same time. He knows just what words trigger the rapid heart beats, weak knees, and zoo full of butterfly stomachs. He's good but most of the time just too good. Because sweetie, you're not the only girl he says 'Hey' to. 2. The athlete Yep. You'll like him. If you say, "No, I'll never like/date an athlete.", you're lying to yourself. How do I know? Because I once said that. But then, you'll become their biggest fan. You'll be at every game cheering them on. If you're the crafty type...
